ELKINS — A unique event featuring uplifting music, family worship and personal prayer is coming to the Rotary Amphitheater in Elkins Town Square.
The Fire Night Christian Family Worship will be offered at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17.
The Elkins United Christian Community Center will present the event. Fire Night is the creation of Pastor Daniel Strosnider of Kingdom — A Community Church in Morgantown.
"His spirit-led worship is a time to pray for each other and our community," a press release for the event says of Strosnider. "The event is free. Bring your chairs and enjoy the evening."
Music will be a major element of Fire Night, as Strosnider is accompanied by a group of singers and musicians whose sound is inspirational, and spiritual.
In case of inclement weather, the rain location will be the Elkins Family Worship Center, at 1402 Taylor Ave. in Elkins.
"The goal of Fire Nights is to see believers from different communities come together and worship Jesus," Strosnider said. "The worship will occur accompanied by a fire-filled message to encourage all who attend to pray with one another and the needs of our communities.
"I believe that because the presence of God will be evident and His Spirit will saturate these services, we will see a mighty move of God."
"Fire Nights are truly becoming something special. The first service saw a gathering of over 350 people and over 10 different churches represented. A service at Jewel City Church drew together four different worship teams and a 50-person choir. The highlight of the night was a young man being delivered from addiction and he and his mom embracing one another."
Strosnider began his ministry career as a member of the Morgantown High School football team when Pastor Kevin Cain asked him to take over leading prayer after football games. He went on to help lead Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Fairmont State as a college football player.
In 2014, he became director of Morgantown FCA. Since then, he has taken on additional praying and speaking responsibilities at Kingdom church and around the state of West Virginia.
EUCCC is a group of united Christians "inspiring hope through Service, Fellowship and the Good News of Jesus Christ," the press release states, adding they "work as a conduit in the community to feed the spiritual and physical needs of neighbors of all ages and backgrounds. It's different denominations of churches working together in unity for Jesus."
Ten local churches make up the EUCCC: Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, Elkins Family Worship Center, First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Goff Street Church of Christ, Highland Park United Methodist Church, Orlena United Methodist Church, Otterbein United Methodist Church and Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church.
